Christian Robertson

Christian Robertson is the principal Designer for Google, specifically the recent google interface design project. I have been interested in the Roboto typeface among other similar designs for the google projects. Christian's designs have been a huge consideration for body type within my own project. Closely linked to sci-fi and technology, the sharp terminals of the Roboto typeface communicate information efficiently without distracting from visuals, subject and display types.

Below is the entire typeface using languages other than english, despite the difference in shape of the characters from different languages, the typeface manages to keep to on visual rule/grid. I will apply this to my own type, first with uppercase then with lower if needed.

"Roboto has a dual nature. It has a mechanical skeleton and the forms are largely geometric. At the same time, the font features friendly and open curves. While some Grotesk distort their letterforms to force a rigid rhythm, Roboto doesn’t compromise, allowing letters to be settled into their natural width. This makes for a more natural reading rhythm more commonly found in humanist and serif types."
